Frequently asked questions
Our calculator uses the official 2026 Danish tax rates and rules, including AM-bidrag, state tax, municipal tax, and the tax ceiling (skatteloft). Results are estimates and may vary slightly from your actual payslip.
From 2026, topskat is part of a three-tier system: mellemskat at 7.5% on income above DKK 641,200, topskat at an additional 7.5% above DKK 777,900, and toptopskat at a further 5% above DKK 2,592,700 — all thresholds measured after AM-bidrag. Our calculator accounts for all three tiers automatically.
The §7P scheme allows employees to receive shares at favorable tax rates. Instead of being taxed as regular income, shares can be taxed as capital gains when sold, potentially saving significant amounts in taxes.
The Job Offer Comparison tool compares full salary packages, including pension contributions, benefits and municipal tax rates, and shows the real difference in take-home pay.
We don't store any salary data. Every calculation runs in your browser — nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is shared or sold.
We support all 98 Danish municipalities with their current tax rates for 2026. You can select your kommune from the dropdown to get accurate local tax calculations.
It depends on your gross salary, your municipality and your pension contributions. The order is the same for everyone: 8% AM-bidrag comes off the full salary first, then tax is calculated on what remains after your personal allowance — including municipal tax, which differs across all 98 kommuner, plus mellemskat or topskat on top if you earn above the thresholds. Pension contributions are deducted before tax is calculated. Enter your salary in the calculator at the top of the page to see what you take home in your specific kommune.
