Method and sources

Real wages measure what your salary can buy. From 2020 to 2025 Danish consumer prices rose 17.1% — in 2022 alone the increase was 7.7%, while wages grew only 2.6% on average. A raise below inflation is therefore a real-terms pay cut, even though the number on the payslip grows.

  • Consumer price index: Danmarks Statistik, PRIS112 (annual average, 2015 = 100). Published figures through 2025; 2026 onwards are estimates (~2%/year) and labeled as such in the tool.
  • Wage index: Danmarks Statistik, SBLON1 (standardised wage index, all sectors). Published figures through 2025.
  • Earnings statistics per occupation: Danmarks Statistik, LONS20 — standardised monthly earnings incl. pension and fixed supplements (2024), projected to 2026 level with the wage index.
  • Tax: 2026 parameters from Skatteministeriet (personal allowance 54,100 DKK, employment deduction 12.75%, three-tier top tax) and all 98 municipal rates.
  • Pension returns: Danica Balance 2015–2025, net of PAL tax (15.3%).

Historical jobs in the salary history are computed with 2026 tax rules (labeled in the tool) — historical tax rates are not applied. All results are estimates, not advice.
